A production order is more than a number in the ERP. VECHR checks material readiness, determines when the order can run, then breaks it into units that stay trackable all the way to the shop floor.

What it manages

  • Production Order Lifecycle Manage an order's journey from Pending and Released through In Progress to Completed. Every status change and its timing is captured automatically, with real-time visibility of Planned, Produced, and Scrapped.
  • BOM Readiness Before an order is released, the system checks the multi-level BOM against available stock and shows whether all materials are ready. Shortages become visible early, before operators start work.
  • Order Dependencies Link interdependent orders with Finish-to-Start rules, including wait times such as cooling or curing. Those dependencies then become part of scheduling, rather than something the planner has to remember.
  • Unit Release Manager Break a production order into batch, lot, or serial units according to defined rules. Each unit gets a clear identity so it can be tracked right through the process.

Before you start, make sure the order really is ready

BOM Readiness compares the material requirements from the multi-level BOM against stock available at that moment. If a required material is short, the problem is visible before the order reaches an operator.

  • The BOM is exploded down to component level Materials and sub-assemblies are traced down to the components that genuinely have to be available to run the order.
  • Shortages are visible from the start The system shows which materials are available and which are still short, so planners can act before the production order is released.
  • Checked against actual stock The check runs against stock by the same lot and location used during production execution, not a snapshot from the day before.

When one order depends on another

In many manufacturing processes, one order produces material that the next order consumes. VECHR can maintain that relationship directly, so the sequence between orders does not rest on a planner coordinating it by hand.

Physical process connections are part of the scheduling context too. The scheduler will not treat two pieces of equipment as a valid pairing if they cannot actually be connected in the process.

How do we make sure an order is not released before its material is ready?

Can production be tracked by batch, lot, or serial?

Yes. The tracking strategy can be set to suit the material or product, including batch, lot, serial, or a combination. The Unit Release Manager then creates tracking units according to those rules.

What if one production order has to wait for another?

Use a Finish-to-Start dependency. The order that needs WIP waits for the supply order to produce the required material. Scheduling also takes available equipment and process connections into account.
